Linda Pecina City Secretary, for six years for the City of Hearne became the first ever certified city secretary known to the city.
Mrs. Pecina has put in many hours of studying, seminars and hard work and late hours making sure she passed her testing to become certified.
She was awarded roses and the City Council along with Mayor Gomez, City Manager John Naron and citizens who attended the council meeting recognized her accomplishment at the council meeting in November.
Mrs. Pecina made the comment that she wanted to be informed on all the new legislature and able to keep the council, city manager and mayor abreast of all changes that should arise in the coming years.
The Certification Program is a professional development program with college/university level courses. The Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program provides current insight into such areas as public relations, interpersonal communications, and community organization which improves on-the-job ability and enhance the clerk personally and individually.
The course requires approximately 200 hours on individual home study and online homework; examinations over each of the four courses; and attendance at eight two-day seminars.
What Mrs. Pecina has accomplished is a great achievement and we are all very proud of her. Keep up the good work Linda and make the whole city all proud.
